GUANGZHOU CIP

The project is located in Guangzhou’s Huangpu district, in the north-eastern corner of the city, and its surroundings reflect the hilly landscape of southern China. A former electronics factory, the original building had insufficient public space, HMA’s mission was to reinvent the public space to maximise the use of space within the massive building. Beautiful courtyards are installed which are open to public, reminiscent of southern Chinese architectural aesthetics. People can feel the presence of nature through the natural light, wind, rain and bird songs at the open-air atrium. HMA also incorporated grille shading by adding 500mm wide hollow shutter blades, which provide effective shading in the hot sunny weather. The façade is intended to regulate temperature inside the building, allowing for soft light to enter through the shutters and reducing energy waste. The balconies on the south side of the building allow office workers to enjoy the outdoor air and sunlight. At HMA, we believe comfortable office space is a catalyst for creativity.
