Located on the North Bund in Hongkou District, Sinar Mas Plaza complex consists of a 320-metre-high office tower, a 172-metre-high hotel tower and a 47-metre-high multipurpose pavilion with offices, commercial facilities, a car park, etc.
For this renovation project, HMA based its design on the elements of “back-to-basic” and “nature” to the “city life” theme, incorporating trends and technology to create a unique, luxurious retail atmosphere to contrast the neighbouring businesses. On top of the original metal and aluminium panels, wooden planters were added, together with interactive art installations, to upgrade the commercial centre into an experience-oriented one. In addition, the lighting design of the façade was inspired by flowing water.
